A statement from Katsina’s All Progressives Congress (APC) described its Oct. 28 campaign launch at Funtua Township Stadium as orderly, while reports carried supporters’ allegations of attacks and damage on the route through Malumfashi.

Premium Times reported that the statement, issued by party public relations officer Shamsu Sule Funtua, quoted Katsina APC chairman Bishir Saulawa describing the stadium gathering as orderly and free of violence or property damage. The statement did not address the Malumfashi allegations or clarify whether the party’s account included supporters travelling to Funtua, the outlet reported.

Channels Television and Trust Radio reported that supporters alleged groups of youths threw stones and other objects at vehicles headed to the event. Both outlets described injuries and vehicle damage, but neither provided a confirmed casualty count or identified the attackers. Channels said stones were present near Malumfashi’s town roundabout and reported that some cars had broken front glass.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda went ahead with the event and presented his administration’s record, Channels Television reported. At the campaign, Radda said, “Without peace, economic activities suffer,” Independent Newspaper Nigeria reported.

The Katsina State Government said the campaign would reach the Funtua, Daura and Katsina senatorial zones, 34 local government areas and 361 wards. Channels Television and Daily Independent reported that no official response to the route allegations was available when they published their reports.
