North Korean leader Kim Jong Un urged army company commanders to ready their units to meet a new-era military buildup goal at a Pyongyang conference on Oct. 22-23, Reuters reported, citing state media KCNA.

KCNA said Kim called on each company to prepare to help achieve the new-era military buildup goal. “Let us build the strongest army,” Kim said, while calling for a military revolution in North Korea’s own style, according to Reuters.

Reuters said KCNA described the Oct. 22-23 meeting as the military’s first gathering of its kind since North Korea’s ruling party held its Ninth Congress in February. The congress set the party’s course for the next five years, Reuters reported. At the Ninth Congress in February, Kim called for stronger conventional armed forces and reaffirmed efforts to develop nuclear weapons and missiles, Reuters reported.
