Korea Investment & Securities and U.S. asset manager Neuberger are discussing funds for Korean investors, extending talks aimed at giving the brokerage’s clients more access to investments abroad.
Miller Kim, the Korean brokerage’s president and CEO, met Neuberger Chairman and CEO George Walker and other executives at the brokerage’s Seoul headquarters Wednesday, Korea Investment & Securities said. They discussed combining Neuberger’s global research with the brokerage’s distribution and wealth management services.
The Korea Herald reported that possible cooperation spans aerospace and Asian semiconductor investment themes. It could also involve opportunities in private companies preparing for initial public offerings and other high-growth businesses worldwide. The report did not identify specific investments.
The meeting followed discussions at a Korea Investment & Securities event in New York in September. Kim said the firms want to draw on their respective capabilities to expand investment options for Korean clients. Neither company has announced a fund or a launch date.
