Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Ezenwo Nyesom Wike urged Nigerian states to adopt Abuja’s Rainbow Coalition, pitching cross-party cooperation as a development model as Kuje political figures voiced support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of 2027.

At the Oct. 23 gathering in Kuje Area Council, Wike described cooperation between APC and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) figures around shared development goals. Abuja Digest, the FCT Administration’s publication, said he urged other states to follow the approach. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also reported his appeal. Political leaders, traditional rulers and representatives of women’s and youth groups attended, the FCT account and NAN said.

The meeting also featured an electoral pledge. Sen. Jibrin Usman Wowo told participants that Kuje stakeholders had agreed to support the APC in coming elections, according to Abuja Digest. NAN reported calls to back President Bola Tinubu and APC candidates. BusinessDay noted that statements from meeting participants do not establish how Kuje residents as a whole will vote.

Wike’s cross-party pitch thus came alongside declarations of support for one party and Tinubu. The pledge named the APC and Tinubu as beneficiaries, while the meeting did not establish the breadth of voter support across the area council.

On infrastructure, Wike said the road project connecting the Airport Road–Tipper Garage corridor with Gwagwalada would be completed and commissioned by December. Abuja Digest said the first phase had already been commissioned. Shuibu Pada, whom the publication identified as Hakimi Agwai of Kuje Area Council, called for road projects to reach underserved communities, including Rubochi and Kwali.

Wike made a related appeal in Rivers on Tuesday, Oct. 20, urging Rivers Rainbow Coalition Youths to support Tinubu’s 2027 bid, Voice of Nigeria and TVC News reported. EconoTimes previously covered Wike’s appeal to the Rivers group.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) lists the presidential and National Assembly elections for Jan. 16, 2027, followed by governorship and state assembly elections on Feb. 6.
