LG Group opened a monthlong review of its affiliates Monday to measure investment returns and set 2027 priorities, with artificial intelligence also expected to feature, The Korea Herald reported.
LG Corp. CEO Koo Kwang-mo is set to lead discussions with affiliate executives and business-unit heads about 2026 results and the group’s agenda for next year, the newspaper reported. The schedule starts with LG Electronics, LG Display and LG Innotek, then moves to battery maker LG Energy Solution and chemicals company LG Chem. LG Uplus and LG CNS are due later among the telecom and services businesses.
LG held three executive strategy sessions earlier this year, The Korea Herald said. Investment efficiency was on the September agenda, research strength was discussed in June and AI-led business changes were considered in March. At the September session, executives examined spending on AI factories, physical AI and companywide AI transformation to identify areas where LG might build an edge, the newspaper reported.
The current reviews are expected to shape plans for individual affiliates. Leaders will consider returns, growth prospects and possible joint projects across the group, according to the report. The Korea Herald said discussions are also expected to cover LG’s partnerships with Nvidia and Microsoft.
The newspaper describes LG’s Nvidia cooperation as spanning AI factories, physical AI and mobility, while its work with Microsoft focuses on AI infrastructure and related business opportunities. LG’s “One LG” approach aims to bring together expertise from different affiliates for opportunities that may be out of reach for a single business. The Korea Herald said AI infrastructure work could draw on LG CNS’ enterprise technology systems experience, LG Energy Solution batteries and LG Electronics cooling systems.
The reviews are also expected to cover profitability and how affiliates allocate capital between emerging technologies and established businesses, The Korea Herald reported. It linked LG’s push for tangible results from AI investment to intensifying global competition. The newspaper said the monthlong discussions are expected to feed into affiliate plans for 2027.
