CHICAGO, Aug. 02, 2017 -- Upwork, the largest freelancing website, today announced the opening of its new office in Chicago. The company seeks to take advantage of the city’s burgeoning technology scene and a wealth of Midwestern talent, adding more than 50 new jobs in Chicago by year end, with a goal of 100 new employees by the end of 2018. Upwork plans to continue that growth trajectory into 2019.

The Chicago office will be led by staffing industry veteran, Eric Gilpin, Upwork’s Senior Vice President of Enterprise, who is charged with overseeing its rapid growth. Upwork has seen a significant increase in demand from Fortune 1000 companies building larger networks of freelancers. Nearly 20 percent of Fortune 500 companies leverage Upwork to build their on-demand talent programs including notable companies such as Airbnb, Pfizer, Dropbox and Juniper Networks, among others.
