Friday’s later intraday snapshots put Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) below Yahoo Finance’s morning readings, but the observations came from different providers and times, rather than a standardized daily close, as U.S. midterms approach.
Yahoo Finance listed Bitcoin at $82,711.01 and Ether at $2,480.06 at 7:22 a.m. EDT (11:22 UTC) on Oct. 16. ChartExchange later recorded Bitcoin at $81,582.29 at 5:46 p.m. EDT (21:46 UTC) and Ether at $2,413.38 at 3:28 p.m. EDT (19:28 UTC). A CoinGape market analysis gave prices of $82,166.41 for Bitcoin and $2,469.21 for Ether, without specifying when those quotes were captured.
Farside Investors’ tables showed $5.1 million in net inflows to U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds on Oct. 15, compared with $60.3 million in net outflows from spot Ether funds. BlackRock’s IBIT recorded a $16.8 million inflow, while ETHA had a $44.4 million outflow. Farside’s Oct. 16 rows showed placeholders rather than completed daily totals, leaving Oct. 15 as the latest completed total in Farside’s tables.
Federal Election Commission records put the end date for the 2026 House and Senate election cycles on Nov. 3, the scheduled date of the midterm vote. USAGov says every House seat—435 in total—and about one in three Senate seats are contested. The outcome will set the majorities in both chambers for the next two-year congressional term.
A CoinGape analysis by analyst Frank Bevah put Bitcoin resistance at $82,000 and support at $80,000. Bevah’s scenario points to $85,000 if Bitcoin makes and sustains a break above resistance, and identifies $78,000 as a downside level if support fails. The analysis also placed Ether resistance at $2,500 and discussed possible effects of congressional control on digital-asset policy, but cited no specific crypto bill or regulatory decision scheduled around the election. The midterm vote is set for Nov. 3.
