Lazard announced Monday it had appointed David Krap as managing director and co-head of European Consumer, Retail & Leisure, adding a senior adviser as it pursues a plan to expand its financial advisory ranks.
Krap will be based in London and join Lazard’s European financial advisory practice. That practice is led by Jean-Louis Girodolle and Cyrus Kapadia, both co-heads of European investment banking.
At J.P. Morgan, Krap was a managing director and co-head of Consumer & Retail EMEA. Lazard says his advisory experience spans more than 20 years, including consumer mergers and acquisitions involving food and beverage, home and personal care, and select consumer health categories. The firm also lists Credit Suisse, Centerview Partners and UBS among his former employers.
Lazard tied the appointment to Lazard 2030, its plan to expand senior advisory ranks. It targets 10 to 15 net additions to its financial advisory managing director group in each annual measurement period. The firm reported 28 net additions for the period from April 1, 2025, through March 31, 2026, in its shareholder letter. That period ended before Krap’s appointment was announced. Lazard’s 2025 letter also reported record revenue in its Europe, Middle East and Africa business.
Kapadia said Krap’s experience and relationships would strengthen Lazard’s European business. Girodolle welcomed the appointment, saying, “We are delighted to welcome him to Lazard.”
Lazard plans to release its third-quarter and nine-month 2026 results Oct. 22, followed by a conference call at 8 a.m. ET.
