Lebanese President Joseph Aoun urged political leaders Thursday to keep regional tensions from destabilizing the country, citing Lebanon’s difficult economic conditions during a Cabinet meeting in Baabda, the presidency said.

Prime Minister Nawaf Salam attended the session at the presidential palace, the presidency said.

Aoun said he hoped the region’s serious challenges would not intensify. He said ministers and other officials should make measured decisions to keep regional developments from destabilizing Lebanon.
