Vail, Colorado, Sept. 12, 2017 -- Lee Jones, a talented development officer with more than 15 years of experience in the nonprofit sector in the Vail Valley, has been named Vice President of Development and Patient Excellence Programs at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute (SPRI) and The Steadman Clinic.

Jones, who began his new position yesterday, comes to SPRI and The Steadman Clinic after serving the Vail Valley Foundation in a variety of leadership roles since 2005. His most recent post was as the Foundation’s Vice President of Membership and Development.
“My goal at SPRI is simple: To increase philanthropy with existing and prospective donors and nurture our current partnerships so that our world class researchers can remain at the forefront of discovery and ultimately improve and transform lives,” said Jones. “The scientists at SPRI are dedicated to pushing boundaries. It is my responsibility to establish a strategic plan to fund and support their needs —nationally, statewide and locally — to be able to continue to make life changing breakthroughs.
“The patient experience is also a high priority. Our ability to transfer the research breakthroughs at SPRI quickly and seamlessly over to our patients at The Steadman Clinic is one of the key elements that sets us apart. That advantage is important as I also look at new ways to ensure The Steadman Clinic continues to provide the best possible patient experience.”
“Lee Jones is a tremendous addition to our team here at SPRI and The Steadman Clinic,” said Dan Drawbaugh, CEO of both SPRI and The Steadman Clinic. “He has forged an outstanding career in development in Vail at both the Vail Valley Foundation and in his previous coaching positions. One of Lee’s greatest attributes is his ability to foster and maintain strong relationships. We look forward to having him as part of our family and are anxious to see the positive impact he will have with our benefactors, enriching their overall experience.”
Jones was born and raised in Manchester, England and has traveled the world extensively since leaving his homeland in the late 1990s.
“I first came to visit Vail in 2000 and I never left,” said Jones. “I was hooked. I knew Vail was a community that I wanted to become a part of and give back to. Now I have the chance to continue serving our greater community in new and exciting ways at the Steadman Philippon Research Institute and The Steadman Clinic.”
In addition to leading the development efforts at the Vail Valley Foundation, Jones also served as Director of Operations for a year and spent nearly nine years as Director of Programs in the Foundation’s education department. He has also coached boys soccer at the high school and club levels in Vail and the greater Denver area. An accomplished soccer player in the UK, Jones limits his playing these days to “kicking the ball around a little with friends,” and hopes to partake in some youth coaching again after he has settled into his new position at SPRI.
