Canada's federal budget will be discussed at a Nov. 9 media scrum in Québec City, where Minister Joël Lightbound is scheduled to outline investments linked to household affordability and a more resilient economy.

Public Services and Procurement Canada announced the event on Nov. 6. The department connected its focus to economic resilience and affordability for Canadians. Lightbound is scheduled to appear alongside MPs Jean-Yves Duclos and Steeve Lavoie, who represent Québec Centre and Beauport—Limoilou, respectively. The scrum is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. ET (local time); the department says arrangements may change.

Canada tabled its 2026 budget on Nov. 5, four days before the planned appearance. Earlier coverage of the budget's business incentives and grocery aid outlined two parts of the package.

Media planning to attend are asked to RSVP by email to [email protected] by 8 a.m. ET (local time) on Nov. 9. The email should include the attendee's full name and media organization, with “RSVP for November 9 media scrum” as its subject. Registered media will receive the venue details. Attendees should arrive no later than 9:15 a.m. ET (local time).
