Lighter has made ether.fi’s liquid staking token weETH eligible as collateral for perpetual trading, allowing qualifying users to apply its discounted value toward margin under a per-user supply cap.

Lighter’s collateral rules limit each user to 800 weETH as margin and set a platformwide cap of 1,000 weETH. The exchange counts 70% of weETH’s index value toward margin and sets an 85% liquidation threshold, according to its documentation.

The feature requires a Unified Trading Account. Lighter’s multi-asset margin rules assign supported assets other than USDC asset-specific discounted values, letting eligible users trade without first swapping those holdings into USDC.

Lighter’s documentation describes the feature as a convenience and says it is applying conservative user and platform supply limits as it adds collateral assets. It says liquidation begins if the Total Account Liquidation Threshold falls below the maintenance margin requirement. The process may affect perpetual positions as well as spot assets held as margin.
