Separate economic readings showed a quarterly setback in France and higher U.K. home prices, while early Friday trading in Europe split between a London advance and declines in two continental indexes.

French output fell 0.1% in the third quarter, alongside a decline in exports. The Nationwide measure put U.K. home prices 0.5% above their year-earlier level in October.

London stocks were up 0.32% at 4:38 a.m. ET (08:38 UTC) Friday, Oct. 30. Germany’s DAX was 0.33% lower, and France’s CAC 40 lost 0.01%. These were point-in-time market readings and did not show full-session results.

The market changes describe index performance, not output or housing conditions across the full economies. The figures cover different spans: French output relates to the third quarter, the U.K. home-price change compares October with a year earlier, and the equity moves capture one moment of morning trading. They offer separate snapshots of production, housing and share prices, rather than a like-for-like comparison of the economies.
