Brazil’s Oct. 25 runoff gave President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva a fourth term, and on his 81st birthday he promised to devote himself to the country.

In an Instagram video posted Oct. 27, Lula said he would work “24 hours a day” for Brazil and pledged to deliver “the best term any president has ever served.”

AFP put Lula’s share of the vote at 51.8%, while Sen. Flavio Bolsonaro received 48.2%. AFP also reported that Lula faced questions about his age during the campaign and said he was “fitter than ever.”

AFP said Lula jogged at campaign events and shared gym workout videos. The Oct. 25 runoff followed Flavio Bolsonaro’s lead in the Oct. 4 first round, as EconoTimes previously reported.

For Lula’s birthday, the Workers’ Party asked supporters to gather outside Brazil’s presidential residence in Brasilia on Oct. 27, AFP reported.
