“Steelwedge has made great strides in developing technology that integrates actionable data into the supply chain planning process,” said Professor Simchi-Levi. “Our research has shown that when data-driven analytics are ingrained in a company’s culture, it is included in the decision-making process, so that all decisions – operations, pricing, risk mitigation, etc. – are backed by a data-driven component.”
David has served at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as Professor of Engineering Systems for the last 16 years. Prior to MIT, David held faculty positions at Northwestern University and Columbia University. He has published widely in professional journals on both theory and practice aspects of supply chain and revenue management.
“David is considered one of the premier thought leaders in supply chain management and business analytics—it’s an honor to have him as part of our Advisory Board,” said Steelwedge CEO Pervinder Johar. “His reputation and insight will be particularly invaluable to Steelwedge as we continue to develop technology that captures ‘consumer-grade’ data for tighter forecast accuracy, deeper analytic insights and improved operational performance.”
Professor Simchi-Levi was also the founder of LogicTools, which became part of IBM in 2009. LogicTools provided software solutions and professional services for supply chain optimization.
David co-authored the books Managing the Supply Chain (McGraw-Hill, 2004), the award winning Designing and Managing the Supply Chain (McGraw-Hill, 2007) and The Logic of Logistics (3rd edition, Springer 2013). He also published Operations Rules: Delivering Customer Value through Flexible Operations (MIT Press, 2011).
Gartner categorized Steelwedge as a leader in its 2015 Magic Quadrant for Sales & Operations Planning System of Differentiation, and a Visionary in its 2016 Magic Quadrant for Supply Chain Planning System of Record.
