Mahindra & Mahindra will begin taking orders for the XUV 3XO ZNG in India on Tuesday, Oct. 20, bringing what the company calls its first mainstream compressed natural gas passenger vehicle to buyers.
The four variants are priced at ₹9.99 lakh for MX EDGE, ₹10.79 lakh for REVX EDGE (O), ₹11.19 lakh for AX5 and ₹12.27 lakh for REVX A. Mahindra lists all four as ex-showroom prices; its announcement does not give a location-specific final purchase price.
The SUV has a 1.2-liter turbocharged engine that Mahindra rates at 82 kW and 200 Nm on both CNG and petrol. The company says it can reach 100 km/h from a standstill in 11.8 seconds while running on CNG, and 60 km/h in 4.9 seconds.
Mahindra describes the vehicle’s CNG efficiency of 24.7 km/kg as certified. That figure is not an everyday-use measurement. The SUV switches to petrol automatically when its CNG supply runs low.
The two CNG cylinders are positioned below the luggage compartment, according to Mahindra. The company says the arrangement provides 270 liters of boot space and a level cargo floor, while the spare wheel sits beneath the vehicle.
All variants include six airbags, electronic stability control and ISOFIX child-seat mounts, Mahindra says. The entry model also has a 26.03-centimeter touchscreen, cruise control, rear air vents and a 60:40 split rear seat. Mahindra lists a gas-leak detector that switches the vehicle to petrol mode.
The Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP) awarded the existing XUV 3XO five stars for adult and child occupant protection. Its published rating record does not explicitly list the ZNG, so it does not establish a ZNG-specific crash rating.
Mahindra introduced the XUV 3XO in April 2024 and says cumulative sales have topped 2.5 lakh vehicles in under 2.5 years.
Bookings will be available through authorized dealers and at auto.mahindra.com. Mahindra has scheduled deliveries to begin on Oct. 20, the same day bookings open.
