Mazda Motor Corp. will start launching new electrified vehicle models next year with a goal of offering 13 new variants globally by 2025, including three electric vehicles, five gas-electric hybrids, and five plug-in hybrids.
The plan is part of Mazda’s goal of making a quarter of its lineup of electric vehicles by 2030 and eventually electrifying all of its cars.
By 2025, Mazda focus on using a dedicated platform now under development developing electric vehicles.
Next year, the carmaker is set to release its first autonomous car, whch would be equipped with Level 2 self-driving technology that controls steering, braking, and acceleration.
However, its self-driving system is activated only when it detects emergencies affecting the drives, such as medical issues.
The vehicle is designed to pull over the roadside while verifying the safety of its environment.
