Gettysburg, PA, April 04, 2018 -- A new study by OPEN MINDS found that enrollment in Medicaid specialty health plans, also known as vertical carve-out plans, has increased by 18% between 2016 and 2018. The study analyzed the contracts covering 414,369 Medicaid beneficiaries in these specialty health plans in eight states – Arizona, District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, New York, Texas, Washington, and Wisconsin. OPEN MINDS has released the study findings in their recent report, The Changing Medicaid Carve-Out Market: The 2018 OPEN MINDSUpdate On Vertical Carve-Outs.
“The push for ‘whole person’ care has created the demand for these specialty health plans, replacing traditional ‘carve-outs’,” said OPEN MINDS Market Intelligence Director Athena Mandros. “Complex, high-needs populations – like children in foster care, consumers with serious mental illness (SMI), children who are medically fragile, and consumers with HIV/AIDs – are the focus of these new plans. These are consumer groups will benefit from care coordination that spans all services.”
The report, The Changing Medicaid Carve-Out Market: The 2018 OPEN MINDSUpdate On Vertical Carve-Outs, can be purchased in the OPEN MINDS estore for $495 (it is available at no charge to Premium and Elite members of the OPEN MINDS Circle). The report provides information on:
