The BBC reported that former Democratic Unionist Party leader Jeffrey Donaldson is under Metropolitan Police investigation over a 2016 rape allegation at the Palace of Westminster.

The Metropolitan Police said the Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) referred information to it on Oct. 13 about an alleged rape at the Palace of Westminster involving a man now aged 63.

The force said the inquiry is in its early stages. No arrests have been made, inquiries are continuing, and specialist officers are supporting one victim.

The Metropolitan Police did not name Donaldson; the Belfast Telegraph had earlier reported a sexual assault allegation involving the same woman.
