Mexico’s peso opened November slightly firmer against the U.S. dollar, though it remained down 0.77% for the prior week and 4.35% so far this year.

At the start of November, the exchange rate was 18.7916 pesos per dollar, compared with 18.8037 at Friday, Oct. 30, close. Since the quote counts pesos needed to buy one dollar, its decline equated to a 0.06% gain for the peso.

The peso rose 0.18% in the Oct. 30 session. Across the week ending that day, it lost 0.77% against the dollar; its year-to-date decline was 4.35%.

Banco de México, Mexico’s central bank, is scheduled to announce its next policy decision on Nov. 5. EconoTimes previously covered the peso’s fall ahead of that decision in its report on the currency’s decline before the rate announcement.
