Anadolu Agency reported that some families have purchased medicines themselves amid worker protests over conditions at public hospitals.

Monterrey protesters shut major roads as they pressed for salary increases and expanded staffing. They also raised concerns about shortages of medicines and other medical supplies, the agency reported.

The report described Mexico’s health system as fragmented, with access to care shaped by employment status. It also said low salaries are pushing doctors toward private-sector jobs.

An emergency plan from the Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) runs through February 2027, Anadolu Agency reported. The agency said further demonstrations are expected.
