Apple recently released several ads that basically portrayed its “iPad Pro” as a viable replacement for laptops, with the addition of the keyboard being a big part of the whole marketing scheme. Microsoft took issues with that, which is why it released its own ads that mocked Apple’s claims, essentially shredding the tablet’s claims.
The ads that Apple released to market the “iPad Pro” essentially told users that they could do all of the same things on the tablet that they could do with a typical work laptop. Reviews of the device have certainly painted an encouraging picture about its improved specs, but some have questioned its capability of actually providing laptop users with the features that they need. As Fortune reports, Microsoft used this angle to attack Apple with a new ad.
The ad features the “iPad Pro” and Apple’s voice assistant “Siri” throwing a party with the “Surface Pro 4” and Microsoft’s own voice assistant “Cortana” to commemorate its evolution in becoming a laptop. In the ad, “Siri” happily announced that she was now a laptop, like “Cortana.” In response, “Cortana” proceeded to ask “Siri” about the things that the tablet could not do but the detachable could.
Microsoft essentially pointed out that despite what Apple claims, the “iPad Pro” is far from being an actual laptop. It supposedly doesn’t even come close to even becoming a replacement for workplace computers.
Microsoft then inserted its own pitch for its “Surface Pro 4” after decimating the “iPad Pro,” The Verge reports.

As it stands, Apple’s product is outselling the “Surface Pro 4” and is actually one of the few shining beacons amid the tech company’s poor sales performance year after year. By marketing the “iPad Pro” as a potential laptop replacement, Apple is clearly hoping to boost sales even more, especially in light of lagging “iPhone” sales in China.
