As South Korea prepares to recognize tokenized securities on Feb. 4, 2027, Mirae Asset Securities is weighing a first-quarter launch of private money-market funds and private bonds for institutions, Digital Asset reported.
The Financial Services Commission (FSC) said the legal changes are scheduled to take effect Feb. 4, 2027. Its first phase includes private money-market funds and bonds for institutional investors, placing both types of product under consideration within the regulator’s initial rollout.
Tokenization represents rights in conventional financial products through digital tokens. A blockchain can record who holds a token and how it changes hands. Money-market funds generally invest in short-term financial instruments; a private fund raises money from a limited investor group, while a private bond is issued to specified investors.
Digital Asset said its reporting could not confirm a specific launch date, a final product lineup or arrangements for issuing and distributing the tokens.
The FSC is accepting comments on its proposed implementation rules through Nov. 11.
