Premier Scott Moe previewed health care, education, community safety and affordability as investment priorities before Saskatchewan’s scheduled Oct. 27 throne speech, outlining his agenda for the new legislative session.
The Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan scheduled the Third Session of its 30th Legislature for Tuesday, Oct. 27, with the speech set for 2 p.m. Saskatchewan time (UTC-6), or 4 p.m. ET (20:00 UTC). Lieutenant Governor Bernadette McIntyre was listed to deliver it. As of Oct. 28, available public records did not confirm whether the speech was delivered or what it contained. The Assembly describes the throne speech as an outline of the government’s agenda and planned initiatives.
Moe linked continued investment in the four areas to the strength of the provincial economy, 980 CJME reported. Saskatchewan’s 2026-27 budget lists C$8.5 billion for health care and more than C$2.5 billion in annual affordability measures. Those budget figures are not confirmed new commitments for the scheduled speech.
The Canadian Press reported that the opposition New Democratic Party (NDP) planned to challenge the government on affordability and health care, while also raising homelessness and addictions. NDP house leader Nicole Sarauer told the outlet, “It’s getting more and more expensive for people to live their daily lives, whether it’s gas, groceries or property taxes.”
The previous throne speech, delivered Oct. 22, 2025, emphasized the economy, safe communities, affordability, education and health care. The Government of Saskatchewan also said it would respond to tariffs imposed by the United States and China.
Under Assembly procedure, lawmakers may debate an Address in Reply for up to seven sitting days before voting. The debate gives members an opportunity to respond to the proposed agenda, and the Assembly’s schedule does not list a date for the vote.
