Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said the city is rebuilding a 22,000-square-meter rehabilitation center for Russian veterans of the war in Ukraine, with medical, physical, social and creative facilities planned. He announced the project in a Telegram post.
The work covers two existing structures at the site of a former veterans’ social rehabilitation facility in central Moscow. Reconstruction began in January, and the city aims to finish the center by the end of 2027.
The planned amenities include diagnostic equipment, a walking school and rooms for physical therapy and kinesitherapy. Sobyanin also described an aquatic wellness facility, spaces for yoga and martial arts, art therapy workshops and libraries. Music and dance activities are to have classrooms. He said the center is intended for daytime visits and short-term rehabilitation.
Separately, Yekaterininsky Park is slated to receive a family center and sports fields, along with waterfront improvements that include a boat station and amphitheater. Those additions are scheduled for completion by late 2026, ahead of the center’s target date.
