MultiChoice plans to change DStv’s television package lineup across Africa from Nov. 5, adding a tier with every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match as it reshapes the choices available to subscribers.

In Nigeria, the company’s guide names Starter, Select, Sports and Premium. It says Starter will carry selected football fixtures, while Sports gives subscribers access to every Premier League and UEFA Champions League match and includes the entertainment content available on Select. The Nigerian guide places Formula 1, MotoGP, tennis and golf in the Premium package.

The Nigeria guide’s price tables list monthly rates of ₦6,000 for Starter, ₦11,000 for Select, ₦21,000 for Sports and ₦44,500 for Premium. But the Starter description says the package starts at ₦11,000 per month, conflicting with the ₦6,000 table price. The guide does not explain the difference.

DStv’s Kenya guide lists Starter, Select, Sports and Ultimate at KSh750, KSh1,500, KSh3,000 and KSh7,300 per month, respectively. The Nigeria guide labels its highest tier Premium, while Kenya’s guide calls it Ultimate. DStv’s broader announcement says Premium is being renamed Ultimate.

For affected Nigerian subscribers, DStv says the move to the new packages will happen in phases from Nov. 5, 2026, with no action required. New customers can choose from the lineup starting on that date.

DStv says the redesign is intended to make package selection easier as viewing habits change. The company describes the move as its most significant package refresh in years. At a Lagos briefing reported by Premium Times, MultiChoice Nigeria CEO Kemi Omotosho said, “We’re solving for simplicity.”

DStv has also scheduled a decoder and hardware promotion from Nov. 2, 2026, through Feb. 28, 2027. The package changes are due to begin from Nov. 5.
