NDTV Profit and News9Live report Pune assembly of the Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE, with the 2.0-liter version listed at Rs 99 lakh and deliveries scheduled for Nov. 15, 2026.
Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is reported to have begun assembling the SUV at its Pune facility through the completely knocked down (CKD) route. The reports cover three Defender 110 X-Dynamic HSE variants: one with a 2.0-liter turbo-petrol engine, one with a 3.0-liter turbo-petrol engine and one with a 3.0-liter diesel engine.
The 2.0-liter version is listed at Rs 99 lakh ex-showroom in New Delhi, down from Rs 1.13 crore, the outlets reported. Each 3.0-liter version is listed at Rs 1.18 crore, compared with Rs 1.52 crore previously. That amounts to reported reductions of Rs 14 lakh for the 2.0-liter version and Rs 34 lakh for each 3.0-liter version.
NDTV Profit attributed the lower prices to a smaller customs-duty burden for CKD assembly than for importing fully built vehicles. The customs-duty explanation was reported by NDTV Profit.
JLR's Pune program follows an earlier local production initiative in India. Tata Group said JLR announced local manufacturing of the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport in 2024, and later reported price cuts of 18% to 22% for those models after localization. Those figures relate to the Range Rover models, not the Defender.
NDTV Profit and News9Live reported that bookings are open through online and retail channels. They said customer deliveries are scheduled to begin Nov. 15, 2026.
