India's Q2 FY27 earnings season showed profit growth exceeding sales across a 1,061-company count, with more than half beating analysts' estimates, NDTV Profit reported, citing Morgan Stanley.

Net profit advanced 28% from a year earlier, compared with 24% revenue growth; margins were 52 basis points wider, according to figures NDTV Profit attributed to the tally.

India's fiscal second quarter covers July through September 2026. NDTV Profit's sector breakdown placed Energy, Utilities and Public Sector Banks highest for results above estimates. Energy and Utilities also had the strongest profitability, while Healthcare had the weakest. The outlet reported that margins expanded across 30% of Morgan Stanley's coverage, without defining the measure.

For the 23 Sensex companies that had reported, revenue grew 21% and net profit 17%, NDTV Profit said. Those figures exceeded Morgan Stanley's estimates by five percentage points for revenue and seven for net profit.

The Core's exchange-filings tracker offered a separate view, listing results for 601 of 1,076 tracked companies. It showed revenue growth of 24.2% and net-profit growth of 28.5%. Its sample and method differ from Morgan Stanley's reported tally, and the tracker does not measure estimate beats.

In an Oct. 8 preview, NDTV Profit said Morgan Stanley expected operating margins to fall in seven of 10 sectors, with the largest declines projected for Energy and Healthcare. The preview linked the forecast to higher commodity and input costs. That outlook concerned operating margins, while the Nov. 3 account covers profitability rankings and margin expansion, so the measures are not directly comparable.

NDTV Profit also reported that more than 250 companies were scheduled to report on Nov. 3. State Bank of India's investor-relations calendar lists its Q2 FY27 analyst meeting for 6:45 a.m. ET (11:45 UTC) that day.
