NDTV Profit reported Muthoot Finance’s profit for the quarter ended Sept. 30, 2026, at Rs 2,977 crore, but did not specify whether it was standalone or consolidated, limiting comparison with the prior-year result.
The outlet said profit was 27% above the year-earlier Rs 2,345 crore figure. Muthoot Finance’s Q2 FY26 exchange filing identifies that amount as standalone profit after tax. Because NDTV Profit did not classify its Rs 2,977 crore figure, the reported percentage change cannot be confirmed on a like-for-like basis against the filing.
NDTV Profit also put total income at Rs 8,842 crore and reported a 37% increase from Rs 6,442 crore. Muthoot Finance’s filing gives standalone total income of Rs 6,461 crore for Q2 FY26. The outlet’s prior-year comparison therefore differs from the company’s standalone figure.
Managing Director Alexander George told NDTV Profit that standalone loan assets under management totaled Rs 1,87,810 crore on Sept. 30, up 42% from a year earlier and 9% from the preceding quarter. The report identified the lending measure as standalone, unlike its current profit figure. NDTV Profit also said George raised the company’s FY27 gold-loan growth outlook, putting the revision at 10%. It gave no previous target and did not explain how that increase was measured.
The comments came as regulated lenders faced the Reserve Bank of India’s (RBI) Directions on Lending Against Gold and Silver Collateral. The RBI set April 1, 2026, as the compliance deadline for lenders, including nonbanking financial companies. It said the directions were intended to align requirements and address prudential and conduct concerns.
George told NDTV Profit that Muthoot and its customers would need time to adjust to the directions, and he expected their practical effects to settle after several quarters.
