A House of Stake report counted 17 eligible mainnet nodes in NEAR Protocol’s multi-party computation (MPC) signing network for September, as a standing emissions-funded program ties operator compensation to service performance.
The Sept. 1-30 report calculated a payout total of 73,293.34 NEAR Protocol (NEAR) tokens. It lists the nodes as eligible for the month, but the calculation does not confirm that operators received payment.
House of Stake approved HSP-007 on Feb. 20. The proposal establishes recurring payments after each service month for up to 21 operators, replacing discretionary grants it described as time-limited. It uses protocol emissions already accruing to treasury.near, according to the proposal. SVRN Chief Executive Officer Sal Ternullo and Proximity Labs founder Kendall Cole co-authored HSP-007.
The proposal ties payments to uptime and provides specified exceptions for excused downtime. Its reporting framework calls for monthly updates on performance and payments, followed by an annual review of the program’s cost assumptions led by Near One.
The NEAR Foundation’s Oct. 15 overview describes Chain Signatures as a way for NEAR accounts to authorize transactions on other blockchains. It says multi-party computation splits signing-key material among operators and that signatures require at least 11 of the 17 operators. Existing operators must approve changes to the operator list, signing threshold or node software through an onchain vote.
SVRN said Oct. 15 that all 17 operators had moved their key shares into Intel TDX enclaves. EconoTimes previously covered SVRN’s announcement about the operator security change.
The September report’s 17 eligible nodes are below HSP-007’s 21-operator ceiling. The figure records eligibility for that service month; it does not confirm that payments were made to all listed operators.
Based on the monthly reporting cadence, an October activity report is expected around Nov. 5. That timing is approximate, not a confirmed deadline.
