Samsung is now into non-fungible tokens or NFTs as well, and this was revealed on Monday, Jan 3. The electronics company said that its upcoming smart TV lineup would feature a built-in platform that owners can use to browse, purchase, and sell NFTs.
Samsung unveiled its latest smart TV models with the unique function as it has an integrated space for NFT. The 2022 television lineup includes Micro LED, Neo QLED, and Lifestyle TVs. The NFT Platform app in them will allow users to discover, buy and trade digital artwork.
According to CoinTelegraph, Samsung will release its first smart TV with an NFT finder and marketplace. With this, users can browse and trade non-fungible tokens after watching their favorite television programs.
Then again, the publication pointed out that the Korean electronics company did not mention which NFT platform or marketplace it is planning to integrate into its new smart TVs. The company also said that it would make sure the image quality will not be affected as it will remain clear while also maintaining the NFT pre-set values.
With the inclusion of the NFT marketplace in its smart TVs, Samsung is obviously widening its venture into the non-fungible token space by making digital art more accessible to people through its advanced television sets.
In any case, aside from welding NFTs into its lines, Samsung is also actively investing in projects related to metaverse via Samsung Next, its venture capital unit. In fact, it was reported that the company participated in the investment round for metaverse gaming.
“The role of the screen has changed dramatically in recent years with advancements in technology and how entertainment is distributed,” Samsung executive vice president and head of sales and marketing team of the visual business, Simon Sung, said in a press release. “With our new lineup of products, we are providing customers an entirely immersive video and audio experience that is customizable to their needs.
Finally, Sung finished the statement by saying, “Whether you are a movie buff, TV lover, gamer, or even an art enthusiast, Samsung has leading-edge offerings that can enhance any room.”
