The index’s cumulative retreat from its Oct. 6 record close has moved beyond the 10% mark, crossing the threshold commonly used to define a market correction.
The 10% comparison uses the closing peak as its baseline; the 3.6% reading below captures a single session. The Associated Press reported a separate intraday reading: the Nasdaq was down 3.6% at 10:10 a.m. ET (15:10 UTC) Nov. 5. That AP snapshot reflects Nov. 5 trading alone.
Crypto prices were also lower over the past 24 hours. CoinGecko and exchange spot data put Bitcoin (BTC) at $76,508 and Ether (ETH) at $2,280.01 as of 15:40 UTC (10:40 a.m. ET) Nov. 5, down 5.05% and 6.37%, respectively. Those 24-hour changes cover a different window from the AP’s single-session figure.
EconoTimes previously covered the Nasdaq’s morning decline on Nov. 5.
