Texas state Sen. Nathan Johnson defeated Republican Mayes Middleton on Nov. 3 to become Texas attorney general, AFP reported, succeeding a Republican whose Senate campaign ended in defeat.

AFP reported that Johnson won a majority of votes in nearly all of Texas’ border districts and major cities. AFP reported that Johnson will take over as attorney general from Ken Paxton.

Johnson has served in the Texas Senate since 2019. In a Facebook post, he said he wrote music for 67 episodes of “Dragon Ball Z” and five films. AFP reported that Johnson called the work “a creative outlet” and “a cultural connection.”

AFP also reported Johnson's work as a voice actor in the “Berserk” anime films and said he practices law after studying physics and law.

Paxton lost the U.S. Senate race to Democrat James Talarico despite President Donald Trump’s vocal support, AFP reported.
