Nearly four in five Bitcoin transactions fall below 0.01 BTC, with each transaction counted once regardless of its size.
Because the unit is a transaction rather than BTC, moving a larger sum does not give that entry more weight in the percentage. The nearly 80% share therefore cannot be applied to the total quantity of Bitcoin transferred.
Transfer amounts also do not identify commercial use. The figure provides no count of transactions made to buy goods or services, so it cannot quantify how often Bitcoin is used for purchases.
The reading stands alone in time. Showing whether small transfers have gained or lost share would require an earlier count calculated on the same basis.
