Friday’s final television polls showed Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s coalition short of a governing majority as he sought renewed support from U.S. President Donald Trump before Tuesday’s election, Axios reported.

The Knesset has 120 seats, and 61 are needed for a majority. Polls released Friday projected Netanyahu’s coalition below that 61-seat threshold. The surveys are projections; voters will determine the seat distribution when they cast ballots.

Axios reported that Netanyahu called Trump twice during a three-day span. He asked Trump to repeat the endorsement made the previous week and supplied proposed wording, according to the outlet. Netanyahu also proposed that Trump speak by phone with Israeli journalists, Axios reported.

Israel’s Central Elections Committee scheduled the parliamentary vote for Tuesday, Oct. 27, and publication of results for Nov. 4, according to EconoTimes’ earlier election coverage.
