Dan Lin, chairman of Netflix Film, is set to leave, Reuters reported, creating another leadership vacancy as incoming chief content officer Peter Rice prepares to take charge of Netflix’s global programming.
TheWrap reported that Netflix declined to comment on Lin’s departure.
Netflix said Oct. 15 that Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria would leave after nearly 10 years and that Rice would succeed her Oct. 26. His portfolio will span films, live events, and scripted and unscripted shows across the company’s regions. Reuters and the Los Angeles Times reported that Rice will oversee the film team until Netflix names Lin’s successor.
Lin followed former Netflix film chief Scott Stuber in 2024. The Los Angeles Times reported that Netflix tasked Lin with a more selective movie lineup and tighter spending. In a statement carried by the newspaper, Lin called leading the team “a great privilege.”
The changes come as Netflix prepares to report third-quarter results. In its second-quarter shareholder letter, the company projected third-quarter revenue of $12.86 billion, up 11.7% from a year earlier. Netflix plans to release the results Oct. 20 at about 4:01 p.m. ET (20:01 UTC), followed by a management interview at 4:45 p.m. ET (20:45 UTC).
