Horizon Health Network and Vitalité Health Network have introduced AI question tools in New Brunswick’s SeamlessMD care app, giving some patients access to approved guidance beyond regular clinic hours.

Horizon announced Thursday, Oct. 22, that patients in its cardiac, surgical and maternity programs can use Seamless Answers. Vitalité announced Friday, Oct. 23, that the feature is available to patients in some of its care pathways, without naming them.

The networks describe their information sources differently. Horizon says Seamless Answers draws on the SeamlessMD education library and directs patients to their care team when a question falls outside that content. Vitalité says its version uses educational resources approved by its clinical teams, with answers that identify sources and link to original documents.

Vitalité reported that 65% of questions since the feature launched in spring 2026 came outside regular business hours. SeamlessMD said in a May 25 launch announcement that 55% of questions in its initial deployment cohort came outside those hours, including 26% overnight and 22% on weekends. The reports do not provide a common cohort or measurement period, so the percentages are not directly comparable.

Horizon said more than 7,700 patients have signed up for SeamlessMD since its 2023 launch. It reported that 94% of patients had found Seamless Answers useful so far; Vitalité separately said 94% of users found it helpful. Neither release stated how many people were behind its result.

Global News reported that SeamlessMD CEO and co-founder Dr. Joshua Liu said data collected through Seamless Answers is stored securely and is not used to train other models. Acadia University psychology professor Daniel Lametti told Global News that “any AI system will once in a while produce errors.” The health networks’ announcements did not report accuracy or safety evaluation results.
