EDISON, N.J., Dec. 05, 2017 -- The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters (NRCC) is pleased to announce its endorsement of Dahlia Vertreese for Mayor of Hillside in today’s runoff election.
"The Labor movement continues to be a pillar of our society and constantly plants the seeds for positive change,” said Vertreese. “Thank you to the Carpenters for your support of me and other pro-labor candidates. Without your help, candidates devoted to public service and to the hardworking men and women of New Jersey would not be successful."
The Northeast Regional Council of Carpenters takes the issue of endorsing elected official candidates seriously and only endorses candidates who hold the same values as we do of protecting and preserving workers’ rights. We only provide endorsements to candidates that support prevailing wage protections, encourage the use of Project Labor Agreements, fight 1099 Worker Misclassification and support fair wages and benefits for working people.
John Ballantyne, Executive Secretary-Treasurer of the NRCC, is confident that Vertreese is the most well-suited candidate to represent Hillside and advocate for our labor unions.
“We are pleased to endorse Dahlia Vertreese in the December 5th runoff election for Mayor of Hillside, as she believes in supporting project labor agreements and protecting the rights and wages of middle class workers,” said Ballantyne. “We have faith that she’ll be an advocate for workers’ rights and help to secure good paying construction jobs in Hillside.”
