Customers using Nubank and Mercado Pago faced limits on cryptocurrency transfers Nov. 6 after the companies reported outside-provider disruptions, leaving some deposit and withdrawal functions unavailable.
Nubank temporarily suspended crypto deposits and withdrawals, citing instability at an external data provider. The company said the issue was outside its systems and that customer assets and information remained protected. It said its other crypto services continued to operate.
Mercado Pago temporarily blocked some transfers to external wallets after a problem involving a provider of risk monitoring and anti-money laundering services. The company said incoming deposits might post late but would be credited automatically once service resumed. In-app crypto purchases and sales remained available.
Reuters reported that Mercado Pago operations in Chile and Mexico were also affected. Neither company named its provider or set a timetable for a full return to normal service. Nubank said transfers would resume when its provider’s service was restored; Mercado Pago said it would notify users when operations normalized.
