Nuclear threat is now part of negotiation

Iran's nuclear deal is not just about Iran, Middle East or energy politics. It is part of greater geo-political negotiation over East namely Russia and West. Ukraine, Syria all part of that greater geo-politics. Recent commentary shows that talks are heating up over the negotiations.

  • Denmark has been threatened with a nuclear strike by Russia, should it join the NATO's missile shield. Denmark was said to join the shield to prevent its soil from Iranian nuclear threat possibility in future. However stance taken by Russia, provide evidence over the conspiracy theory mentioned above.

  • Russian ambassador to Denmark, expressed in a newspaper opinion that the Nordic countries had not fully understood the consequence of signing the NATO's missile defense program. Denmark will be considered a threat to Russia and its warships will be targets of Russian nuclear weapons.

  • NATO and the Nordic countries have tried to make clear that these actions are against the terrorist threat and Iran but that failed to persuade Russia. Russia has stepped pressure over the countries in these regions with its warplane violating the air space of Estonia, Finland, and Sweden. Pro-Russian separatists have taken control of vast region in the east of Ukraine ignoring seize fire agreement.

  • European Union in recent times has stepped up sanctions against Russia and prevented a nuclear deal between Russia and Hungary worth billions of dollars.

Market Impact -

  • The situation is showing no signs of abating however market recently paid less focus over it.

  • Worsening of negotiations might hurt the equity markets and mood of investors as a whole. Markets and currencies of countries in the Nordic and Baltic regions would face the maximum impact along with Russia.
