Nvidia is reportedly in talks to invest in artificial intelligence startup Perplexity as part of a multibillion-dollar funding round that could value the AI company at more than $30 billion.

The potential Nvidia investment would mark a significant jump in Perplexity’s valuation and further strengthen ties between the semiconductor giant and the fast-growing AI startup. The Information reported on Sunday, citing people familiar with the discussions, that the financing round could raise billions of dollars.

Perplexity was valued at roughly $20 billion during its previous funding round about a year ago, according to earlier reports. A valuation above $30 billion would therefore represent an increase of more than 50%, highlighting growing investor interest in the company and the broader artificial intelligence sector.

The discussions come as Nvidia and Perplexity deepen their business relationship. Nvidia has emerged as one of the biggest beneficiaries of the global AI boom, with its graphics processing units and other computing hardware widely used to train and operate artificial intelligence models.

Meanwhile, Perplexity has recorded rapid revenue growth as demand for its AI-powered products expands. The company’s annualized revenue has climbed to more than $750 million, compared with less than $250 million at the beginning of the year, The Information reported.

That means Perplexity’s annualized revenue has more than tripled within months, strengthening its position among rapidly expanding AI startups.

Part of that growth has reportedly been fueled by Perplexity Computer, an AI agent designed to help professionals automate tasks performed on computers. The product reflects the technology industry's broader push toward AI agents capable of handling increasingly complex workflows with less direct human involvement.

If completed, Nvidia’s investment would add another major AI company to its expanding network of strategic relationships while providing Perplexity with additional capital to develop its technology and compete in the increasingly crowded artificial intelligence market.
