Airstrikes in Nyala killed at least 20 people Monday, Sudan Tribune reported, as attacks in Sudan’s South Darfur region affected a market and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) positions.
Sudan Tribune said local sources and eyewitnesses described strikes at several locations around the city, including a market and RSF positions. It reported dozens of people were injured.
A medic at Nyala Hospital told Agence France-Presse (AFP) that a drone strike on a market killed 21 people and wounded more than 40. The medic could not identify how many of the casualties were RSF fighters.
The two accounts describe different scopes: Sudan Tribune’s report covered attacks across Nyala, while the medic’s figures referred to the market strike.
Sudan’s army and the RSF have fought since April 2023. Anadolu Agency reported that neither side had immediately commented on the latest strikes. EconoTimes previously covered ICRC reports of hundreds of deaths in recent Sudan airstrikes.
