Oversea-Chinese Banking Corporation (OCBC) restored mobile and internet banking Friday, Oct. 23, after some customers said app access problems prevented them from making PayNow transfers.

Customers wrote on OCBC’s Facebook page that they could not use PayNow through the app. The bank replied that it was taking urgent steps to fix the problem.

OCBC said some customers had experienced intermittent slowness before service was restored. It said customers could still use ATMs and cards, their funds remained secure and no customer data had been compromised.

Downdetector user reports topped 700 during the disruption, but that figure does not show how many customers were affected. CNA reported that the app displayed an in-app warning about possible access problems.

OCBC did not identify a cause or say how many customers were affected in its media response. The bank apologized for the inconvenience and thanked customers for their patience.
