Rising household costs featured in former President Barack Obama’s criticism of President Donald Trump at a Cleveland rally Saturday, where Obama campaigned for Democrats ahead of Ohio’s Nov. 3 midterms, AFP reported.

Obama called Trump’s record “a series of bad decisions” and described the war as “an unnecessary war that nobody asked for.” He urged Ohio voters to cast ballots soon, noting that early voting was open in the state.

Democrat Sherrod Brown is seeking to return to the Senate, where Republican Jon Husted now holds the seat. Democrat Amy Acton and Republican Vivek Ramaswamy are vying for governor; Ramaswamy ran for president in 2024. The report described both Ohio contests as close, with Democrats narrowly ahead. It said national polling pointed to a possible Democratic gain in the House, while the Senate outlook was tighter.

AFP reported that Obama’s schedule included a Detroit appearance with Democratic Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed. Democrats held both of Michigan’s Senate seats at the time, and AFP described El-Sayed’s contest with Republican Mike Rogers as close. Voters will decide the races in the Nov. 3 midterms.
