The Federal Reserve, Ethereum Foundation and Deribit have scheduled three policy, software and options events from Oct. 26 to 30, clustering a central-bank meeting with a testnet upgrade and derivatives settlement.
Ethereum’s Glamsterdam upgrade is set to activate on the Hoodi testnet at 1:42:48 p.m. ET (17:42:48 UTC) Oct. 26. The Ethereum Foundation said Hoodi’s gas limit is scheduled to rise to 200 million at activation. It lists enshrined proposer-builder separation, block-level access lists and gas-pricing changes among the upgrade’s components. Glamsterdam activated on Ethereum’s Sepolia testnet Oct. 6, but the Foundation has not set a date for mainnet activation.
The Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) is scheduled to meet Oct. 27-28. The Federal Reserve’s calendar lists a 2 p.m. ET meeting entry on Oct. 28 and a press conference at 2:30 p.m. ET. The Fed’s rate table shows the federal funds target range at 3.75%-4.00% after a 25-basis-point increase Sept. 17.
Deribit’s monthly Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH) options are due to expire Oct. 30 at 4 a.m. ET (08:00 UTC), the last Friday of the month. The exchange’s contract policy sets monthly options to expire on the last Friday of each calendar month. For inverse options, the delivery price is calculated from a time-weighted average of Deribit’s index over the final 30 minutes, from 3:30 to 4 a.m. ET (07:30-08:00 UTC).
The sequence starts with Hoodi’s Oct. 26 activation, followed by the FOMC meeting and Deribit’s options expiry later in the week.
