Nike fans can now get an official preview of Ja Morant's Valentine’s-themed Nike Ja 2, set to release in February 2025. Meanwhile, Jordan Brand is bringing back the classic Air Jordan 9 'Cool Grey' in March, staying true to its iconic design for collectors.
Ja Morant’s Nike Ja 2 'Valentine’s Day' Edition Brings a Bold Twist for 2025 Release
After a 1.5-year wait, Ja Morant’s second signature basketball shoe with Nike, the Nike Ja 2, has finally hit shelves. As Sneaker News this model is preparing for a wave of holiday-themed releases, with Halloween and Christmas colorways already creating a buzz online. Now, looking a bit ahead, a Valentine’s Day edition has just surfaced, slated for release in February 2025.
One of the standout features of this Valentine’s themed Nike Ja 2 is its unexpected twist on the holiday’s classic theme. The heel showcases a series of broken hearts against a grey backdrop, playing with the idea of Valentine’s in a darker, edgier fashion. The grey extends down to the midsole, creating a cohesive look, while the design includes the radial foam from the original Stargazer Ja 2, a leather forefoot panel, and a mesh toe box. A salmon-toned forefoot adds contrast, with hot pink broken hearts decorating the heel for a bold finish. The tongue branding, Swoosh, and sock lining are done in black, completing the look. This holiday-themed pair is set to drop in February 2025 for $130.
Air Jordan 9 ‘Cool Grey’ Set for 2025 Comeback, Honoring an Iconic Sneaker Legacy
Meanwhile, the Air Jordan 9 is also getting some time in the spotlight. Though not as frequently seen as other models like the Jordan 3 or 4, the Air Jordan 9 has had a notable year, with 2024 featuring the return of OG colorways like “Dark Powder Blue” and “Olive.” In 2025, Jordan Brand will return the coveted “Cool Grey” colorway, first released in 2002. Known as the only AJ9 Michael Jordan wore on the court—during his 2002 stint with the Washington Wizards—the “Cool Grey” colorway carries a unique sneaker legacy.
The 2025 edition stays true to the original design, much to the excitement of Jordan purists, with no additional “Sail” midsole or design changes. This upcoming retro release marks the third iteration of the “Cool Grey” AJ9, the last released in 2012. For those eager to add this pair to their collection, the retro is expected to arrive on March 15, 2025.
In the meantime, for fans seeking a more immediate release, the Jordan 9 “Olive” is set to drop on November 16 in full family sizing. Both upcoming releases highlight Jordan Brand’s dedication to maintaining classic designs while celebrating the lore that surrounds each pair.
