Ohio Republicans are divided over a campaign video about Democrat Amy Acton's family, with Gov. Mike DeWine asking Republican nominee Vivek Ramaswamy to remove it, CBS News reported.

The spot features Acton's estranged mother. CBS said other Ohio Republicans running for office have also criticized it.

DeWine had endorsed Ramaswamy to succeed him. Ohio Republican Sen. Jon Husted told The Associated Press, "I would not have run that ad."

Acton's campaign responded with a video featuring her brother, who criticized Ramaswamy's use of their family history. Ramaswamy has said the ad came from his campaign; EconoTimes previously covered his statement about the video's origin.

President Donald Trump took a different position. AFP reported that he urged Ramaswamy to continue using the ad, a stance EconoTimes covered in an earlier report on Trump's response.

Ohio's gubernatorial election is Nov. 3.
