In a little over a week, the OnePlus 9 series is going to be presented to the world. However, it appears that new smartphones are not the only ones the company is going to announce. OnePlus has been releasing not-so-subtle hints that its anticipated smartwatch could also be launched in its next event.
OnePlus Watch: What to expect
Unlike other companies, OnePlus is not one to remain completely mum about upcoming devices until the day of launch. It is then not surprising that with more than a week left before its next event, the company is already giving away easy-to-crack clues that the OnePlus Watch is coming along with the OnePlus 9 series.
The official Twitter page of OnePlus released a seven-second video titled “See it March 23!” While it does not show the full appearance of the mystery device, the video shows enough parts of the product for tech fans to conclude that it is the anticipated smartwatch, currently dubbed in reports as the OnePlus Watch.
With OnePlus fans already having fun deliberately guessing what is the device incorrectly, the company has decided to take things to another level by starting a “wrong answers only” contest in a OnePlus community forum. With the short video as a reference, people are asked to guess what is the product OnePlus has been teasing.
You asked for it. You're getting it.
— OnePlus (@oneplus) March 12, 2021
To become a participant, fans will have to give wrong guesses of the device that can be in a form of full descriptions, mock-up renders, drawings, and videos. Answers can be sent through the said forum thread until Tuesday, March 23, at 9:59 a.m. ET. The company will then choose nine of the best answers and reward the winners with the OnePlus Watch.
While it is no longer a task to guess the device being teased is OnePlus Watch, the video does not give much information about its design, features, and specs. Some details that can be picked up from the seven-second video is that it would sport a black strap with a rubber material. Meanwhile, there were also earlier hints that it would run on Google’s Wear OS.
OnePlus Watch launch: How to watch the OnePlus March 23 event
With the OnePlus Watch confirmed to be presented along with the OnePlus 9 series, fans can expect its full reveal during the March 23 event. Tech fans can tune in through the company’s official YouTube channel.
