France 24 reported Tuesday that online calls for protests in France on Oct. 24 and 31 have grown since the Oct. 17 demonstrations, as unrest over school conditions and living costs continues.

On Oct. 19, student protesters kept the Louvre closed. France 24 reported that dozens tried to block access to the museum. The Louvre attributed its closure to student strike action and said it would refund reservations for that day.

Two École du Louvre students told Le Monde they backed high school protesters. They also sought more funding for education and culture. France 24 reported growing activity by the Yellow Vest movement amid the wider unrest.

Following violence during the weekend protests, France’s prime minister directed prefects to impose local curfews.

The next dates cited in the online appeals are Oct. 24 and 31. France 24 reported calls for demonstrations on those dates, not confirmed protest events.
