Two senior budget officials in Oyo State resigned effective Nov. 2, adding to recent departures from Gov. Seyi Makinde’s administration; Makinde is also the presidential candidate for Nigeria’s 2027 election.

The resignation letters, reproduced by OyoInsight, say Commissioner for Budget and Economic Planning Ayobami Oluwaseun Ojo and Special Adviser on Budget and Economic Planning Simeon Adegbola Oyeleke left their posts on the same day. Ojo’s letter referred to an appointment letter dated June 22, 2026, but gave no explanation for his departure.

Oyeleke wrote that he was unhappy with the conditions under which he worked and felt unable to meet his constituents’ expectations while serving in the administration.

The Oyo State government had not issued a statement on the departures as of Nov. 2, Almond 94.3 FM reported. The state’s official principal officers page still listed Ojo as commissioner, but did not indicate when the roster was last updated.

Makinde’s chief of staff, Segun Ogunwuyi, also left the administration; his resignation letter set Oct. 12 as the effective date. Makinde’s campaign website identifies him as the Allied Peoples Movement’s (APM) presidential candidate for 2027. TheCable and Premium Times reported that he said the party would unveil its manifesto Nov. 4. The resignation letters do not connect Ojo’s or Oyeleke’s decisions to the campaign.
